How to Create a Family History Scrapbook

In the year 2010, the St. Tammany Parish Library is celebrating the Bicentennial Anniversary of the West Florida Revolt of 1810, which allowed for the establishment of St. Tammany Parish. To commemorate the bicentennial, the library is enabling residents to participate in a series of programs called Memories of St. Tammany or M.O.S.T. at various branch libraries.
To commemorate the bicentennial, Memories of St. Tammany or M.O.S.T. programs will teach residents of the parish how to preserve and share their family histories with four sessions which are as follows:
How to Write a Memoir
How to Create a Family History Scrapbook
How to Record an Oral History Session
How to Scan and Digitally Save Photographs and Documents
During the How to Create a Family History Scrapbook class, Anna Marie Catoir will guide participants while they create their own family scrapbook using ideas from the book called Scrapbooking Your Family’s History by Laura Best, which is available at St. Tammany branch libraries. Participants can expect to plan an overview of their scrapbook and to start one to two pages of it during the class.
The following items should be brought to class:
Scissors
3-4 pages of acid-free scrapbook pages. (12 x 12 is standard, but 8.5 x 11 works well also)
3 – 4 copies or prints of original photos (not the originals
A few pieces of family memorabilia, if desired
Acid-free glue stick
Optional items to bring for yourself or to share with the group are as follows: markers stamps, punches, ink, scraps of ribbon, gift wrapping paper, wall paper, other decorative paper. Do not bring construction paper.
Glue and gel pens will able available for use during the class. The locations dates and times of the classes are listed below:

The maximum class size for the Bush and Folsom libraries is 15, and the maximum class size for the Causeway, Covington and Slidell libraries is 20.
