I really love the illustrations and all the fun onomatopoeia, slang, and alliteration! “Hip-hop out of my jim-jams” and “lickety-split ‘n’ spit fish he clump-clomps out” are fun phrases to say. With a deft tongue, this book would make a really cute story time. I recommend you practice it first! The story is all about a young monster who’s afraid of the boy, with “eyes that awful color the sky is when you wake up in the middle of the day,” that has crawled through the closet and under his bed.
