I’m a board member with Louisiana Outdoor Writer’s Association and we work hard promoting our state’s great outdoors and encouraging our youth to do the same.
Please join me in helping students from 8 to 18 fine tune their literary and photography skills in spreading the word about our Youth Journalism Contest (YJC). Feel free to copy, paste or forward this email to your contact lists.
The Louisiana Outdoor Writer’s Association in cooperation with The Advocate Educational Services (Baton Rouge newspaper) is proud to sponsor the annual Youth Outdoor Journalism Contest (YJC). The contest is designed to stimulate an interest in outdoor journalism and photography for our state’s young writers and photographers. In addition to cash prizes and other awards, the winning entries will be published in several publications and websites across the state.
Cash prizes in all categories donated by the Louisiana Chapter of the Safari Clubs International.
The 2009 Youth Journalism Contest is now open and accepting entries. The rules are on the attached ad. Entries should be postmarked no later than July 31, 2009.
Submit your entries to the following address:

As a side note, I invite everyone to read some of my latest work that just hit the shelves.
An exclusive interview with Hoda Kotb in Southern Breeze magazine available at book stores all across the Gulf South.
And a cover story for the national magazine Old House Journal. Enjoy a stunning 8-page spread on how Louisiana architectural historian and director of LSU Rural Life Museum, David Floyd, disassembled, moved and rebuilt a 19th century planter’s home. Old House Journal is available across the country in newstands, book stores and fine department stores.
Thanks a bunch,
