It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? (June 22)

Read:

Short story called His Soul Inspiration by Dorlana Vann, published in this quarter’s Enchanted Conversation.

I finally finished The Many Deaths of the Firefly Brothers by Thomas Mullen. — I loved this. I will write a longer review later, but this is most likely the best thing I’ve “read” (listen to the audio I purchased from Audible.com) so far this year.

Did Not Finish: The Brontes Went to Woolworth by Rachel Furgerson — I hate to not finish a book, but I just can’t get a handle on this one. I find myself rereading sentence over and over trying to figure out if the person their talking about is real or imaginary or a doll. I’ll leave my bookmark in it if I change my mind, but for now I’m done.

Reading:

Bone Dance (book 2 in Fugue Macabre series) by C. J. Parker — Charlotte is a friend of mine and I very much enjoyed book one in the series, Ghost Dance.

The Faceless Ones (Skulduggery Pleasant #3) by Derek Landy

In the Mail:

I got the new  THE SPARK: Cirque du Soleil from Book Mooch.

  1. The Macabre series looks good! Happy reading!

  2. Bone Dance…. that one sounds good!

  3. I have not heard of these, so I will being looking into them. I love finding new to me books. Have a great week reading. My Monday: http://www.rundpinne.com/2010/06/its-monday-what-are-you-reading-21-june.html

  4. They are all new to me but I hope that you enjoyed them. They certainly seem interesting!

  5. They sound like interesting books. Enjoy them. I hate to not finish a book either. Have only had that happen once or twice and then I think I went back and finished them so I did not have to think about it anymore.

  6. You’re right not to finish a book that you really can’t get into. Life’s too short and there are too many good books around!

How nice you had such fun with the audio by Thomas Mullen. I don’t know the book or the author, but I hope you’ll be able to find more by him.

  7. I am intrigued by The Many Deaths of the Firefly Brothers — it’s the kind of thing I’d choose for the title alone. I love the fact that it was honored for its “rollickingness.” 😀

  8. I’ve just in the last year started putting down books I can’t get into – there’s just not enough time to read the books I WANT to read.

    Here is my Monday!

  9. I have not heard of any of those books! And I hate to not finish a book as well. I think I gave up on at least 3 or 4 this year. I hope you enjoy your reads!

  10. Sorry to hear that The Brontes Went to Woolworth didn’t work out for you. I also have such a hard time putting down books, but sometimes you have to – there are just too many other books to read out there!

    Happy reading this week 🙂

  11. Sorry to hear you couldn’t finish The Brontes Went to Woolworths…I hate when I can’t finish a book either. And I’m glad for the warning, in the event i ever pick it up.

    My week:

  12. I go by my sisters philosophy – Life is too short to drink bad wine or read bad books. (A bad book being one you are not enjoying!) Reading is something we do for fun, don’t make it a chore!

  13. Isn’t that the worst! I hate not finishing a book, but just like Lydia said, I have way too many to stay with one that isn’t fabulous. Good luck on your next read! Have a fantastic week!
