Cuba on my Mind by Katie Wainwrigh Livingston Press 2010
This was a very fascinating account of growing up in Cuba as a child, said to be fiction. Which I doubt. The story is passed down, this child and teenager in Batista’s Cuba; the American enclave provided to executives of the U.S. sugar company that employed her father, and the impoverished barrios where her friends and caretakers lived. Fidel Castro was frequent visitors to her town. I think all adults would enjoy this book. Katie Wainwright, author, was born in Banes, Cuba, in 1935. Her father, William Howard Cameron, was Scot; her mother, Angela Martinez, was Cuban. Her father worked for United Fruit Company growing sugar cane. She now lives in Louisiana.
